Sick kids, healthy parents, healthy kids, sick parents, and on goes the cycle. We just can’t get over these illnesses. I’m finally heading to the doctor myself tomorrow because I’m pretty sure this cold has turned into a sinus infection. Besides the sinus pain and pressure, I can’t hear out of my right ear and can’t breathe out of my right nostril. Good times.
The kids are better for the most part. It seemed like Reece was having a bit of a relapse last night, but today he snapped out of it. Now he just has so much energy from being cooped up mostly inside for too long.
I can’t quite tell if Emme is still sick or teething. Her molars are really trying to push through, so it could just be that, but she has been very clingy and nursing like a newborn. She’s still sleeping through the night, but waking up crazy early. This morning she started making noise around 4:30 and I finally sent Doug in there to try and put her back to bed around 5, which worked for about 15 minutes before she wanted me. I was able to doze off for a bit after bringing her into bed with me, but we were out of bed by 6.
I’m pretty sure I once said I’d take the early wakeup if it meant sleeping through the night, but now I’m not so sure! I’ve been going to bed early to make up for it. Not early enough, though.
Today we made a quick trip to Target for a change of scenery and Reece got a new Ninja Turtle shirt. I love how he says it–it sounds something like “minjin turtles.”
Usually when I feel a cold coming on, I still go to the gym until it’s a full-fledged cold. Typically I skip the gym for a few days to let my body rest and recover. Between the kids being sick (can’t take them to the gym child care) and me being sick with this forever long funk (I’ve been fully sick for a week), I haven’t been to the gym in quite some time.
My body is missing the movement and I thought I might try for a light jog yesterday when my good friend so kindly watched the kids for a few hours. I just wasn’t up for it, though, and instead went for a quick walk. I did get a two-minute plank in with you guys when I posted that video the other day, but that’s been it. Being so sedentary isn’t helping the miserable atmosphere at the house right now, but I don’t want to push my body overboard, especially since I’m not getting the rest I really need because of the kids.
Do you take a break from the working out while your sick?
What’s the longest you’ve had a cold last?
