If you’ve ever had coffee right before a workout, you know how powerful caffeine can be at amping up your routine. I even posted on Facebook awhile back about going to the gym to run 4 miles, but thanks to my afternoon coffee right beforehand, I felt energized enough to run one more.
Sometimes drinking a full cup of coffee pre-workout isn’t a good fit in your day or you just don’t have easy access to it right then. Or perhaps you don’t even like coffee (gasp!). That’s where Pure LYFT Energy Stir Sticks come in.
The energy in LYFT Energy Stir Sticks is derived from all natural green coffee bean extract and has vitamins A and B complex. With 0 calories, it’s a good alternative to energy drinks and sodas, and fits easily in a purse or gym bag.
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile or follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ll know that I’m a coffee-lover, so I was waiting for just the right opportunity to use my sample of Pure Lyft. I’m still breastfeeding, so I need to control my caffeine intake and although Pure Lyft states that it is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding, it has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, which is a perfectly safe level. Since I usually only breastfeed in the morning–typically before I have any caffeine–I figured I would be fine having it any time after that. (Breastfeeding mamas out there, please use your judgement and consult your doctor about what is an acceptable level of caffeine for you to consume.)
Well, this morning we ran out of coffee filters (whoops!), so instead of my usual coffee, I only had a cappuccino, which has much less caffeine. It was the perfect opportunity to use Pure Lyft Clean Caffeine right before my later-in-the-morning workout to give me the boost I needed to get through Body Pump.
You simply peel the wrapper off and mix the powder with any beverage. Since I rarely drink anything other than water during the day, I just mixed it with that.
As far as I could tell, it didn’t have a taste. I was drinking out of plastic water bottle, so the taste of plastic may have masked any slight flavor if there was any. Now, I’m not used to drinking a full cup of caffeinated coffee (I drink mine half caff) and boy, did I feel the effects of the caffeine! I was energized and ready to go for my workout.
I actually ended up not drinking that whole bottle of water because I felt the effects of the caffeine enough without finishing it, but this will vary depending on how much caffeine is usually in your diet.
Do you caffeinate before a workout?
How many cups of coffee do you drink in a day?
