What was supposed to be a nice weekend finally free from sickness, turned into another bummer of a weekend when Reece and Doug came down with a stomach bug. So we’ve been for the most part secluded from everyone we know so we don’t pass this on.
I had really been looking forward to getting out of the house and doing something fun as a family, plus seeing friends of ours who just got engaged. Instead it was more time at the house, playing in the backyard (not the front–didn’t want to encourage neighbor kids to come over and play with us) and otherwise not really doing much of anything.
Fortunately, I was able to FINALLY make it to the gym again yesterday after I don’t even know how long being away from it. Since I’ve been fairly sedentary while sick, aside from a few short walks, I decided to take it easy to reintroduce my muscles to it.
I started with some light cardio on the elliptical (the bouncy one–what’s that thing called anyway?) for about 45 min and then did a mini total body workout, doing one set on multiple weight machines just to waken my muscles up. I was not (and still am not) quite 100%, so I didn’t want to overdue it and also didn’t want to be super sore for teaching Pilates on Monday. Little did I know that Reece still wouldn’t be better by this evening, so Pilates on tomorrow is not going to happen. 🙁
Today I got out for a light jog with Emme. It’s been while since I’ve gone for a jog with her, so I wasn’t sure how she would do. She was happy until about a mile and then I just gave her a Happy Tot Super Toddler Bar, which kept her occupied the other two miles. We actually jogged to the grocery store and back to pick up a few things, so it was productive too!
I’m going to fit in some sort of exercise tomorrow, but what it will be is still up in the air. I’m considering running through an entire Pilates class with him, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ll definitely report back if I do!
Are the rest of you keeping healthy?
I’d love to hear all about how you guys actually had enjoyable weekends! 🙂
