Friday Favorites, My 100th Post!

Seven months of blogging and I’m very excited to bring to you my 100th post! This is my favoritist fave today.:) I appreciate all of you who join me here at my little place on the web. Heres to many more 100s of posts!

My other favorite things this week:

1. Outdoor Run PR

I pushed myself through a full five miles on an outdoor run the other day (I was pretty bored the last 1.5 miles, but kept going anyway) and ran my fastest pace yet at 9.06. I’m super proud of that, thinking how far I’ve come from a year ago when I couldn’t even jog for two minutes straight after having Emme.

It’s funny how I used to strongly dislike running outdoors because it felt so much harder, but now I love throwing it into the mix, breathing the fresh air and soaking up the season changes.

Plus, the crunch under my feet. Gotta get off the pavement for some good crunch.

4. One-On-One Time with My Boy

It’s been too long since I’ve had a “date day” with Reece. I took the opportunity this week while my mother-in-law watched Emme and it was so much fun having time with just him. No stress, no yelling, just fun. We went to a cool park and got Jamba Juice smoothies and Pirate’s Booty for lunch. I definitely need to do this more often.

3. Doing things at my kids’ pace

Maybe it’s the change in weather and doing more things outside, but the past couple weeks, I’ve been making sure to take the time to do things at my kids’ pace, not mine. It’s not always possible if we have to be somewhere, but the times I can just let them do their thing are the best.

Last week it was hiking, this week it was walking in downtown Los Gatos and my date day with Reece.

3. Dang Toasted Coconut Chips

I’ve been eating these for awhile now and recently the kids have gotten hooked too. I love the name because, seriously, the first time I tried them, I thought, “Dang! Those are good!” and forced myself to stop eating them so I could have some in my oatmeal the next morning. If you like coconut–especially coconut macaroons–you will love these!

I first found them at my local produce market, but Whole Foods carries them and you can even buy them through Amazon.

So why are they are my favorites this week since I’ve been eating them for awhile? I found them in a new flavor! They now make them in Caramel Sea Salt, made with coconut sugar.

You may have seen my Instagram picture of the coconut sugar I’m trying in my coffee (which is good!) so I was intrigued. I’d probably have to do a side-by-side comparison to tell you if there was any difference in taste, but they were equally delicious as the original.

4. First Outdoor Swim of the Season

I always say I’m going to take Reece to the indoor pool at the Y in the winter, but I never do. It actually feels somewhat complicated to work in time for a swim when I want to workout while I’m there and then take the kids swimming, which means packing a lunch. Indoor swimming doesn’t interest me as much as it does Reece, so we’ve never actually done it.

Enter the summer-like weather we’ve been having, which led to me making the effort to get everything ready for an outdoor swim, which is much more appealing to me.

It wasn’t super warm at the time we went, but we had fun. It was a little challenging to have both kids in the water since Emme wanted to hangout on the steps and Reece wanted to be out further, but I’m supposed keep them both within arm’s reach.

I know as the weather gets even warmer, we’ll be doing this more and I’m looking forward to it!

5. Just Mayo

So I’ve never cared much about my mayo. Brand didn’t matter and neither did regular or low fat. Actually, I generally prefer to skip the mayo and use avocado instead.

However, the other day (same day we bought Dang Toasted Coconut Chips!), we were shopping at Whole Foods and they were sampling Just Mayo. I’ve never had plain mayo on a piece of bread and nothing else, so it felt a little strange to eat that, but it really showcased the flavor and it was really surprisingly, noticeably good.

Turns out, I was actually out of mayo at home, so I bought two bottles since they were on sale. This is the first time I’ve actually noticed a difference in the taste of my sandwich–or artichoke!–because of the mayo I was using.

What are you loving this Friday?

Happy weekend!

  • Congrats on your 100th post!!! Love your five favs 🙂 It’s funny that you say you had to get used to running outdoors because I feel the exact opposite. Actually, I used to hate running in general but have come to enjoy it (at times) now. I’m terrible at treadmill running but I think outdoor running is refreshing and I tend to go faster (idk why). Anyway, I love your blog and really enjoy reading your posts! Hope you have a great Friday!!!

    • Thank you! I think it’s pretty interesting that running outside used to seem so challenging to me and now I go faster. Happy Friday to you too!

  • Congrats on your hundredth post! It’s an awesome feeling eh? Just wait till you get to a year of blogging…that day’ll feel even more amazing 😀

  • Oh and fab job on your run!!! I’ll be happy the day I’m able to run 5 miles straight, haha!

  • Happy 100th post!! Fun Friday Faves, I’ve been enjoying your sweet moments as a Mama as they are the type of things that I most look forward to when I become a Mum.

Friday Faves: The Spring Weather, and really the summer weather to enjoy the beach. A massage 🙂 Fresh baked banana bread!!

  • This Friday I am loving the rest/recovery week post marathon… but more importantly I am loving the weather (sunshine, blue skies and warm weather) here in northern California! 🙂

  • Happy hundred!! And 7 months already, man that was fast!

Glad you got some nice time in with just Reece!

My Friday fave- uh… well at least it’s above freezing here today, and we got one nice day of weather in this week! Jealous of your weather and anxiously waiting for some nice weather here!

    • Glad it’s starting to warm up for you! I’m guessing you can appreciate the one-on-one time now that you’ve been getting it regularly with J&C in school.

  • I’ve never had those coconut chips so I need to order some. Sound good. You made me laugh with thee Just Mayo part because I LOVE plain mayo on two slices of white bread. I grew up eating that as a snack, don’t ask me why. But I really like it. Glad I found your blog!

    • Funny about the mayo! There are some very anti mayo people out there and I’m sure this is just grossing them out.

The coconut chips so good–you will be so happy you tried them!

      Thanks for reading. 🙂

  • Your weather is making me insanely jealous! We are still buried under snow with temps barely in the 30s. Please send some warmth our way!

  • Woohoo congratulations on your 100th post, what an amazing achievement 🙂

Also well done on that running PR. Since breaking my wrist I’ve not run but I really miss it and want to get back to it again.

  • […] may remember me mentioning how great Dang Toasted Coconut Chips are in last week’s Friday Faves. Seriously, they’re […]
