Hello world!

The kids are asleep and the husband is out running errands, so instead of crashing out in front of the TV with nothing on, I opened the laptop. A couple of squares of chocolate (Ghirardelli Sea Salt Soiree) to enjoy while I type.

The house is quiet except for the sound of crickets chirping from the “summer night” setting on my son’s white noise machine. With the humidity in the air, I might just forget what coast I’m on and peer out the window hoping to glimpse a firefly. An evening walk sounds nice, but that hasn’t happened much in the past three years since children entered our lives. So I’ll just sit by an open window and let the summer air fuel my thoughts.

I’m excited to have this space here. A place where I can share my thoughts and practices regarding health, nutrition, fitness and motherhood. I’m no expert on any of these things, but I like to think that being in the best shape of my life eight months after having my second child gives me some credibility (although this level of fitness is in large part thanks to The Fitnessista’s workouts). I’m often asked by others what I do to stay thin and, for me, fit and thin go hand in hand, so this is a good place to talk about that.

There’ve been many ups and downs in my fitness journey, but I’ve been on a roll for the better part of the last decade. I look forward to sharing pieces of my journey with you as I continue on about the day to day.
