The weekend’s over and I hope this post finds you energized, rested and hopefully staying cool. There is only the faint hint of a breeze blowing through our windows right now and the air is heavy with moisture. It’s nothing for you east coasters, but I’ve grown weak in the 15 years I’ve lived in California, so 40% humidity weighs me down. 🙂
I was happy to get in an outdoor run today–especially since it followed a circuit training session and that combo hasn’t happened in awhile–but my legs felt heavy and my breath shallow.
That plus the fact that my legs were toast from the weights.
As for the weekend, it was pretty mellow for me with quite a lot of “me time” while Doug enjoyed time with the kids on bike rides and at the pool. We got in some relaxing around the house too.
Cut and color (at House of Blonde), pedicure and a date with “To Kill A Mockingbird” at a coffee shop was pretty great! I devoured the book and am so glad I read it again. I remember enjoying it when it was assigned for school, but other than that I remembered nothing.
It was excellent.
I strongly recommend reading it again as an adult even if you remember it a bit because there’s a lot in there that your teenage self may not have completely understood.
Originally, I was going to borrow the books from a friend, but I purchased hard copies of both that one and “Go Set A Watchman” because I decided I wanted a nice set to keep for me even if I never do read them again. I only keep the special ones, but I never (until now) read books more than once. I’m eager to read GSAW, but also a bit hesitant because I want to sit with the original for a bit. No good transition, but I’m happy to say that my workouts were still going good and strong this week! Here’s what they looked like:
Monday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Teach Tabata plus Teach Pilates
Tuesday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates plus Hybrid Bike Intervals, 30 min
Wednesday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Thursday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Calorie Blasting Treadmill Workout + Teach Pilates
Friday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Sunday: Strength + Cardio – Winter Shape Up WO 1 + Outdoor Run, 2.25 mile
Even though Fitnessista’s Summer Shape Up is over, I didn’t want to think for myself during a workout since I do that all week teaching Pilates, so I pulled up a favorite workout from this year’s Winter Shape Up. I always love her mix of strength and cardio!
I also did the Blogilates Journey to Splits challenge most days of the week, although I did miss a couple days. I still don’t feel like my split is improving, so I think I’ll likely have to do the stretches beyond the 30 days to get into a split. I really want to, though!
