After a few weeks of not getting in much else other than Pilates, I knew I needed to push myself to squeeze in more variety. Fortunately, I got a little more in there even with the two rest days I took.
Here’s what the week looked like:
Monday: Strength/Flexibility + Cardio – Teach Pilates plus two rounds Tabata
Tuesday: Strength/Flexibility + Cardio – Teach Pilates plus two-mile treadmill run
Wednesday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates plus quickie total body weights
Thursday: Strength/Flexibility + Cardio – Teach Pilates Plus 1.5 mile stroller push run to the park
Friday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Monday and Wednesday I squeezed in what I could before class. I like to do more than just two rounds of Tabata, but that was all I got there in time to do before people started showing up. On Wednesday, I planned to get in a quickie upper body workout with some weights, but I figured rather than just stand there while I do bicep curls and such, I might as well do squats and lunges with them. It had been awhile since I’d lifted anything and it was just what my body needed.
I’m ashamed to say that Tuesday’s two-mile run felt hard. My cardio fitness is pretty low right now because of my lack of anything except Pilates the past few weeks. The good news is that I’m taking a cycling certification class later this month, so hopefully that will help me easily get cardio in more regularly.
Saturday was a planned rest day since I took the kids up to visit Ellie and G in Oakland while Doug had a bike race. We hung out at the pool, walked around Jack London Square and then grilled for dinner.
I also threw in a handstand with a view. 🙂
We were having so much fun that I decided to spend the night so we could stay up and chat past when the kids went to bed, which led to another rest day.
It was fun having a sleepover, but what wasn’t fun at all was that the kids did not sleep. They went to bed surprisingly well considering it was the first time they shared a bed, but then both had oddly long middle-of-the-night wakings that kept us up for hours. Let’s just say Sunday’s nap time was pure bliss.
