This Week in Workouts: Something Different

I know Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, but this one felt like it to me. The weather was nicer than we’ve had in awhile and Reece graduated from preschool last week, so I feel like now it’s official even though nothing else has really changed. Enjoying fresh corn from the farmer’s market with Sunday dinner sealed the deal.

All eyes were on this girl walking around the farmer’s market with her ladybug boots enjoying her a strawberry. 🙂

We enjoyed dinner with friends on Saturday night and then had a nice Sunday strolling the the farmer’s market, hanging out on the front porch and riding bikes around the block.

Reece felt very accomplished after blowing his first bubblegum bubble.

He’s been wanting to try for so long and was thrilled that we finally got him a pack of bubblegum. There was a lot of frustration as he attempted to figure it out and it was very exciting when he got it.

Emme asked to try a pedal bike so that she can be fast like Reece, but got frustrated with the pedals. She’s so good at the balance bike, it won’t surprise me if she picks this up quickly, but she’s still so little that she’ll need some time.

After staying up late with friends on Saturday, the kids were not always pleasant to be around on Sunday, which made some of the day challenging. But then, this face.

This girl is something else, that’s for sure.

As far as my workouts this week, the mix was alright, but I was especially happy to get in a couple different things.

Here’s what the week looked like:

Monday: Cardio – Stroller push run, 3 miles
Tuesday: Strength/Flexibility + Cardio – Teach Pilates + Tabata, 2 rounds
Wednesday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Thursday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates x2
Friday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates x2
Saturday: Flexibility – Yoga
Sunday: OFF

The yoga session on Saturday was thanks to a free class at my local Athleta store. Calio‘s experts were also there to share nutrition tips. I’ll be posting a Tabata workout on their blog soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Since Doug was off for Memorial Day last Monday, he took Reece to run errands while I got in a stroller run to coffee with Emme. Gotta love outdoor exercise, strong coffee and ruby slippers. 🙂
