This Week in Workouts: Still Going

This week was definitely a #wycwyc sort of workout week, but I’m happy to report that I am still going with the workout mix I’ve been aiming for. Wahoo! Sadly, I didn’t get in any of these fun summer activities as a bonus workout, though.

Tuesday, I had a kid-free several hours to get some work done, but what I found myself longing for was a good long (for me) outdoor run since I was near a favorite trail. It had been too long since I’ve run 3+ miles and it felt good to get my heart pumping outside. Man, those last two miles were rough, though! I’m glad I chose to have a good run before settling my brain to focus on writing.

Wednesday, I planned to do a Summer Shape Up workout during nap time, but the one I picked was a barre one, which is not what I was looking for. I did a portion of it, but then picked up my weights to get a few sets of other strength moves in since it’s heavy lifting that my body needs.

Friday, I just barely eeked in treadmill intervals before teaching Pilates. I had planned to get there early enough to do HIIT and steady, but when all I had was 20 min, I opted for the biggest burn with just the HIIT portion.

And when Saturday found us with a few things to pickup at Target before a birthday party that afternoon, I used the opportunity to do a stroller push power walk instead of driving there. Good for the body and the budget, without a trunk to stash any extra purchases. 🙂

Here’s the full rundown:

Monday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Tabata 3 rounds + Teach Pilates
Tuesday: Cardio – Run 4 miles outdoors
Wednesday: Strength/Flexibility – Barre 10 min + weights + Teach Pilates
Thursday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates x2
Friday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Calorie Blasting Treadmill Workout + Teach Pilates
Saturday: Active Rest – Stroller Push Power Walk 2.5 miles
Sunday: OFF

I’m also still keeping up with Blogilates journey to splits challenge. It’s definitely tricky to get in 10 min a day of stretching, but I’m determined! I wish I had taken a photo at the beginning so I could see if I’m making progress. I still have quite a ways to go!

As far as our weekend, it was very low-key–a birthday party on Saturday and the rest of the time mostly spent trying to put some decorative touches on our house. We brought in the help of a decorator from our favorite furniture store, Harvest, and are excited to have made our first big purchase from there, which is a piece we’ve been eyeing for awhile.

We love the look of reclaimed wood and the colors this adds to the room. Now we’re working on decorating the top, but it’s nice to have the room coming together a bit more.

Saturday night turned into a date night in with a movie, popcorn and wine. It’s interesting how something so simple as watching at movie at home can turn into a date night feeling with just a few tweaks.
