This Week in Workouts: Teaching a New Class

I hope this post finds you enjoying a nice Sunday evening, relaxing before you get back at it tomorrow. I took a weekend off from exercising since my body was pooped from teaching eight classes this week. I almost squeezed in some cardio, but then I didn’t. I’m not sorry, either.

The kids and I laid low on Saturday so they could rest and finish recovering from their colds-of-the-week while Doug and my dad went for a bike ride in Gilroy.

iPads seem to be the only way to keep kids at this age still when they’re not feeling well.

Then we fancied ourselves up, left the kids at home with my in laws and headed up to a restaurant called Town in San Carlos for a friend’s surprise party. The food was delicious, we were dressed up nice and I didn’t take a single picture! I try to avoid taking pictures of my food in dim lighting, but I should have at least gotten a picture of Doug and me all dressed up. Oh well.

Sunday, we celebrated a special little girl turning five–the first one in our little group to turn the next year older. It always hits me with her birthday each year how old these kids are getting. Crazy to think that Reece will be five at the end of the month!

As far as this week’s workouts, here’s what they looked like:

Monday: Cardio + Strength/Flexibility – Teach Tabata and Teach Pilates
Tuesday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates x2
Wednesday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Thursday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates x2
Friday: Strength/Flexibility – Teach Pilates
Saturday: Off
Sunday: Off

You’ll notice I taught a new Tabata class on Monday! I’m excited to add this guaranteed cardio session to my week. It starts just a half hour before my regular Pilates class, so some people will try to attend both. It’s fun teaching a new format and might get me ready for teaching cycling in the future since they’re both cardio. It was a little tricky to get our heart rates back down and switch gears to head into Pilates right after, so I think I’ll just have to work on my timing for that next time.

Now it’s time to finish my coffee and head out to buy some poster-making materials for Reece’s preschool this week. It’s getting close to his birthday, so he gets to be VIP and share some of his favorite things with his friends. Should be fun….or something like that for the completely non-crafty person that I am. 🙂

Have a great start to your week!
