A Weekend of Halloween Fun

Good morning and happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed your final weekend before Halloween! Maybe you even had some Halloween fun like we did.

As per usual, our weekend kicked off on Friday with Science Discovery Day at Reece’s school.

It’s not his usual school day, so Doug took him and Emme for a few fun hours of exploring and learning while I taught my first class at a new gym. Only one person showed up, but I was happy I looked good in my new Fabletics outfit for the occasion. πŸ™‚ (Have you guys tried them? Your first outfit is only $25, which is totally worth it. Yes, that’s a referral link.)

Later that night we had a Havest Festival at the Y, so the kids got to dress up in their costumes for the first time.

My mother-in-law, who is much craftier than I, put together Emme’s adorable flamingo costume and spruced up Reece’s Zane costume (the white ninja from Ninjago) that he previously wore on his fourth birthday.

Sadly, Emme says flamingo like a big girl now.

Saturday started as a solemn day with a rainy morning run, followed by a memorial service for an extended family member. I also stopped by my mom’s gravesite since it’s been six months now since she passed away.

After the kids’ nap, the sun was shining and we were ready for some fun at our neighbor’s pumpkin carving party. I was pretty excited to be wearing my second outfit of real clothes in one day, since I’m usually in workout clothes all day, and snapped a pic with a cute little photo bomber.

Best of all, I won 3rd place at the party for my alien pumpkin!

Sunday it was back to our usual day–workout and bike ride in the morning, back home for lunch and nap time, afternoon espresso at home, work around the house, dinner and a Giants’ game in the evening.

Not a bad weekend!

What fall fun did you have this weekend?

Any costume or pumpkin parties?

  • Sounds like a fun filled fall weekend! Love both your children’s costumes. They both look adorable. Your MIL did a fabulous job!

Congrats on finishing your first teaching job @ the new gym. I’m sure more people will come next time πŸ™‚

  • I like seeing adorable kid photos πŸ™‚ Also your tunic sweater is cute!

I enjoyed afternoon tea, which was a nice treat on Saturday. Then Sunday more exploring of the surrounding neighborhoods of Oakland…found my favorite French cheese!!

  • Emme’s costume is so cute, I wish I was super creative like that! This weekend I took Logan trick-or-treating at Westgate on Saturday and to Thomas and Percy’s Halloween at Roaring Camp on Sunday. Can you tell we love everything about this season? πŸ™‚

  • Adorable costumes! This year The Love Nugget is going to be a fireman but was starting to ask about being a superhero. I told him next year so I’m preparing for that one. For some reason those muscle super hero suits just make them seem so much older. I wanted to hold on to the cute baby costumes one more year πŸ™‚ Although he looks pretty grown up in the fireman costume!

    • I bet he’ll be an adorable little fireman! I think the fake muscles are so cute! Emme tried on a friend’s red Power Ranger costume with big muscles and it was too stinkin’ cute!

  • I love your striped sweater and the kiddo’s costumes are too cute. We took Belle to the pumpkin patch last weekend, but it’s still so warm here it’s hard to get into the fall festivities. Since Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, I really should live somewhere that actually has one!

    • It was just barely cool enough to get away with the lightweight sweater that night. We’ve cooled down to the low 70s here, which I’m enjoying. It took me awhile to adjust to the warmer fall temps when I moved to Northern California, but now I’m used to it and know to expect “real” fall in November.

  • How cute is that flamingo costume! No Fall-ish stuff this week, but of course friday is Halloween

  • Super creative pumpkin! And I bet it was simpler to execute than those intricate ones. Their costumes are really cute too πŸ™‚

  • We also had a Halloween weekend with Boo at the Zoo. Also — it might have been our last weekend of 80-degree weather. The weather turned Sunday night and we woke up to a chilly 35 on Monday morning!
